COVID-19 Development Update
On 20 April, the Prime Minister announced that we will be moving to an Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on 27 April. With construction already confirmed as a permitted activity under Alert Level 3 we will begin reopening construction sites around the country from Tuesday 28 April.
What’s happening in eastern Porirua?
Starting Tuesday 28 April, Kāinga Ora has reopened our sites at Castor Crescent and Champion Street in eastern Porirua to continue construction activities, including building site preparation, house construction and underground infrastructure works.
What does it mean?
Restarting work on these sites means we can continue our work towards supplying new, warm, dry homes to the community.
It might also mean you notice activities on our sites more than before, especially as many people will still be at home during this time. We will work to minimise disruption as much as possible and thank you for your patience.
Keeping everyone safe
The wellbeing of our people and communities is our priority. All construction and site workers working near your home will be following strict new rules to keep themselves, you, and the community, safe from COVID-19. These rules will comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Ministry of Health guidelines. Kāinga Ora has an audit process in place to ensure contractors are following these guidelines.
